Magazine Double Page Spread - Progression

Upon looking at my sketches, the layout of the images does not appear to be professionally thought out. So, after conducting further research into photography magazine articles, I had chosen this layout for my magazine's double page spread. I have added in all the main images at the top and added a light grey box for the text. I have also added in page numbers, which is an essential part of the codes and convention of magazines.

Following on from the previous step, I have added in text to the page, as is needed in an article. I have positioned the title to the article in a large Serif font. This is so that it stands out from the rest of the page and is the first thing they see (following continuity theory; Gestalt principle). I have also put the font in a yellow colour so that it contrasts well with the black background image to again, attract attention to that area. The main article's test is in progress of being typed and is written in columns, as my research of the codes and conventions show I must do. The beginning the article, it is typical for the start of an article to have the first letter in a much larger size; I have done just that. I will need to finish off typing the main article and add in a quote at the bottom to fill in the negative space.

I have successfully finished the main article's main text area and have kept the writing in columns accordingly. I have also added in a quote from a well known journalist who gives advise on getting the most out of things in life. Here, I have included a picture from the internet and placed it into my magazine. However, due to copyright reasons, I will have to say who took this picture and give them credit at the bottom. I have done so in a small font so that it does not distract the reader's attention. I have also sourced the quote at the bottom, again to avoid copyright violation. I will need to add in another small block of text in the middle to fill in the negative space.

This is now my final double page spread. I have added extra test at the top of my quote whilst maintaining the same font, size and layout of the text. I have also asked my peers about my final product and many of them have pointed out that the last lines of each paragraph is too spaced out. To solve this, I have removed the auto spacing on the text and aligned it to the left to avoid the negative space between the letters as pointed out.
