Magazine Contents Page - Progression

The first stage of creating my contents page is to add in a background. However, if the background was a a picture, it would stand out too much from the rest of the page and would interfere too much with the readability. Following the codes and convention of photography magazine contents pages, I have kept the page listings and numbers at the left side of the page, this is so that it follows the continuity theory of reading left to right, top to bottom. I have also put an image of the magazine's front cover. This is so that it fills up any negative space within that area. I have used a Serif font because it follows the typography scheme of my magazine.
In this stage, I have added credential information box in the bottom corner. This is because according to my research, I need to give credit to those who are involved in the making of the magazine. However, in my case, I am the only one who is involved in the production of the magazine. I have used a Serif font here as this applies to my target audience and is still clearly readable in this font size. I have also aligned the text in the page listings to the right. This is because according to my research on previous magazines, it is typical for listings to be aligned to the opposite side for effect. I have also had to increase the leading of the lines between page headings so that it is easier to differentiate between the pages. As this screenshot was taken, I was busy making a social media banner at the bottom using the colours of the typical social media site (also following the typical codes and conventions of magazine contents pages).

During this stage, I have completed the social media banner at the bottom of the page and have begun adding in the picture previews at the right side of the page. I have added the previews inside photo frames because it corresponds with the photography theme of the magazine. To finalise the contents page at the final stage, I will need to fill in the final part of the picture frames, add in the page numbers onto the frames. I also may need to increase the opacity of the background so that it does not look too basic.

This is my final product of the Contents Page of the magazine. I have added page numbers, another image to the frames and increased the opacity as I stated in the previous stage. This is so that the reader knows where to find that image or topic and can easily navigate to that page. I have also added a sticker pointing to the front cover. This is to reduce the amount of negative space in that area. In addition to this, I have increased the opacity of the background image. This makes it clearer to the reader what the image is and not too transparent that you can't make out the image.
